Feral Friend #1 - Jax Higginson

Swim Feral has some Feral Friends; extraordinary humans that approach life and their fellow swimmers with such massive love, support and inclusivity that we've sent them a Turtleback Bag.

We'd like to sing from the rooftops about their wonderful projects and ethos, so you can check out what they do too.

First up is Jax Higginson who organises The North East Skinny Dip (NESD); the biggest annual, charity skinny dip in the UK! In 2019 over 700 humans stripped down to skin and ran into the North Sea to raise money to improve local mental health services and local mental health. Since 2012 the skinny dippers have collectively raised over £60,000!

NESD takes place once a year at Druridge Bay with the sunrise. It is a celebration of life, of nature and of our own unique bodies. It’s about taking a risk and embracing a moment of wild joy and freedom. It’s about immersing our whole selves in nature. Finding the courage to be seen, fully, in all of our physical and emotional glory. A rare opportunity for absolute surrender whilst actively challenging the beauty myth still omnipresent in our society.

Every single body is welcome at the NESD. No exceptions!

North East Skinny Dip 2020 will take place on SUNDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER at Druridge Bay Country Park.

On site camping is available and limited.
